[origin: WO2004051191A1] The invention relates to a driver support system for a motor vehicle, said system comprising output means for outputting information to a driver of the motor vehicle, and/or operating means enabling the driver to operate the driver support system, and control means for controlling the information output and/or the operation. Said system is characterised in that means for determining a state of stress of the driver are provided, and the control means are designed to control the information output and/or the operation according to the state of stress of the driver of the vehicle. The inventive driver support system is advantageous in that the operation of the driver support system and the information output performed by the driver support system is adapted to the stress of the driver, and consequently an excessive demand or an excessive deviation of the driver from the traffic trend is avoided. In this way, the invention contributes to safety on the road.
