The magnet coil (1) has an outer casing (4) of plastic with a number of ribs (40) on its exterior as protection against impacts. The ribs are arranged parallel to each other and are formed by webs whose width (b) is greater than their height. The ratio of the separation distance (a) to the height of the ribs is within the range 1 to 2.
