[origin: WO2004053811A1] The invention relates to a method for the informative assistance of a vehicle driver by means of an on-board multimedia system comprising an on-board computer and an external computer, which at least temporarily exchange data via a bidirectional communication line. The inventive on-board computer and the external computer are provided with special storage areas, the contents of which represent elements of a pool of information that is available to and can be selected by the vehicle driver with the aid of the on-board multimedia system. The contents of said special storage areas can be changed by the vehicle driver by means of an input mode that does not reduce safety while driving. The contents of the special storage areas are automatically matched against each other.
