[origin: WO2004055948A1] The invention relates to a socket (1) for a coaxial electrical plug-and-socket connection and to an associated plug. The socket (1) has an inner contact opening (2) with an inner contact element (3) situated therein. The inner contact opening (2) is surrounded by a circular cylindrical outer plug (4) that has an outer contact element. In order to improve the electrical properties of a socket of this type during the transmission of audio or video signals between entertainment electronics devices, the invention provides that the outer plug (4) is made of an electrically non-conductive material. In addition, the outer contact element is provided in the form of contact strips (6) in the contact area thereof, and the progression of the outer contact element on the outer surface of the outer plug (4) forms a circular cylindrical helical line.
