[origin: EP1570881A2] The device (5) is mounted in or on the duct (4) to produce a liquid mist (5a) in the duct. The protective device is preferably attached to a water supply system whereby the fluid forming the mist can be water or a mixture of water and foam. Independent claim describes method for reducing spread of fire whereby a liquid mist is produced in the event of fire when the protective device is activated which is mounted in or on the duct.
