[origin: EP1571249A2] After consolidation (9), e.g. through calendering, heating, water-jet or mechanical needle punching, a non-woven (1) is passed over a curved guide surface (3) where a liquid finish is applied. The finish is supplied through distribution channels (10, 11) and emerges through holes (6) in the surface (3). The surface can include a stripping edge at the exit. An independent claim is also included for the process of applying finish, e. g. a polar liquid, in this way. The surface (3) can be heated to a temperature between 30 [deg]C and 1 to 5 [deg]C below the boiling point of the most volatile finish component. The finish is fed continuously without pressure pulses.
