[origin: WO2004058077A1] An endovascular stapler 100 for securing an endograft 164 to a vessel is disclosed. The stapler 100 includes a staple housing 114 adapted for storing at least one staple 148 therein. The staple housing 114 having an exit area 158 for discharge of the at least one staple 148 therethrough. The stapler 100 also includes an actuating assembly adapted for discharging the at least one staple 148 through the exit area 158 and a displacement mechanism in operative. association with the staple housing near the exit area. The displacement member is operative for pushing the exit area 158 against the endograft when discharging the at least one staple 148 therethrough. The displacement mechanism may comprise a balloon 156 adapted to be inflated and deflated positioned near the exit area 158. The unbent staples 248 may be shaped as elongate W shapes, or may alternatively be straight wire segments 148. The staples 148, 248 may be bent upon discharge.
