[origin: WO2004050988A1] The inventive method serves to alter suspended paper fibers or cellulose fibers, particularly in order to increase the strength of the paper produced from these fibers. To this end, beating surfaces provided with elevations (4) and depressions (5) are pressed against one another and displaced in such a manner that, in the beating area (3), the elevations (4) of a beating surface are pressed into the depressions (5) of another beating surface. This results in the cellulose fibers or paper fibers receiving particularly advantageous pressure impulses.
