Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004057162A1] The invention relates to a device for adjusting the phase position between the camshaft and the crankshaft. Until now, rapid and precise electronic control for mechanical adjusting devices provided for adjusting the phase position between a camshaft and a crankshaft does not exist. The novel adjusting device is a component of an electronic control circuit, which automatically adjusts the desired phase position either directly or indirectly based on another quantity. The control circuit comprises at least one control loop between the control device and the controlled system whereby achieving a more rapid and a precise adjustment. Devices of this type are required for the rapid and precise adjustment of the phase position of the camshaft relative to the crankshaft in internal combustion engines.
