[origin: WO2004055381A1] The invention relates to a centrifugal pump, inside the housing of which one or several impellers having an axial or semiaxial, open or closed design are disposed. An intake duct is mounted upstream of a first impeller. Several grooves that are spread across the circumference and extend in the direction of flow are arranged within the wall area of said intake duct. A closed annular wall area is embodied between a point of entry of the first impeller and the closer ends of the grooves in a housing wall of the intake duct, said grooves being connected exclusively to the space within the intake duct so as to cooperate therewith.
