Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004057542A1] The invention relates to a vehicle security system provided in the form of a Keyless Go System and to an operating method therefor. In this vehicle security system, an erroneous detection of the location of an authentication element (1) inside or outside the vehicle, said detection being carried out by authentication element localization means (21) in an onboard access control part, as a result of at least one interfering transmitter (10), which is located in the vicinity of the vehicle and/or of the authentication element (1), is prevented by using a device for carrying out null measurement (9) in the authentication element (1). To this end, the device for carrying out null measurement (9) performs a measurement in time intervals during which the onboard access control part (2) does not emit any pulses to the authentication element (1), and the interference level created by the at least one interfering transmitter (10) is determined on the basis of this measurement. Depending on whether this determined interference level exceeds or falls short of a predetermined threshold value, either the device for carrying out null measurement (9) transmits an adapted threshold value for a decision as to whether an authentication element (1) is located in the vehicle or outside the vehicle to the onboard access control part (2) or subsequent pulses from the onboard access control part (2) are not responded to.
