[origin: WO2004059422A2] The present invention is directed to systems and methods for uniquely identifying a navigational control device via an Application Collection Usage (ACU) having Usage values for navigation buttons to enable software applications that are aware of the navigational control device to monitor specific button-related events. Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to a new UsagePage and Usages for a USB-capable navigational control device. In one embodiment of the present invention, the new top level Usage codes (Navigation Pad = 0x07) would be allocated from the ConsumerPage (OxOc).
