[origin: WO2004066313A1] The invention relates to a method and device for locking a fuel assembly in position in a housing of a transport container. According to the invention, a fixing system (10) is placed between the upper end piece (ES) of a fresh fuel assembly (A) which is to be transported and the open end of a housing (L) in which the assembly is to be disposed, such as to form a rigid connection therebetween. The fixing system (10) maintains the lower end piece of the assembly (A) at a distance from the base of the housing (L1) and presses the upper end piece (ES) laterally against the housing corner which is designed to face downwards during the subsequent transport of the assembly in the horizontal position. In addition, the lower end piece (EI) of the assembly (A) is held in place laterally by a reduced section portion (12) of the housing (L).
