[origin: WO2004042899A1] The invention relates to a rectifier (2), provided for an alternator on an internal combustion engine, with two cooling bodies (4.1, 4.2) housing several diodes (3.1, 3.2) each. The cooling bodies (4.1, 4.2) of the rectifier (2) are physically separate from the alternating current generator and, with regard to the direction of flow of the cooling air, are arranged either before or after a fan (6) embodied as a cooling fan. The regulator (2.1) for the rectifier (2) is also arranged physically separately, between the rectifier housing (7) and the alternating current generator.
