[origin: WO2004055537A1] A magnetoresistive layer system (5) is disclosed, whereby a layer arrangement (15) is provided in an area of a magnetoresistive layer stack (14), working particularly on the basis of the GMR or the AMR effect, which generates a resultant magnetic field which acts n the magnetoresistive layer stack (14). The layer arrangement (15) comprises a first magnetic layer (12) and a second magnetic layer (13), separated from each other by means of a non-magnetic intermediate layer (11) and coupled for ferromagnetic interchange by means of said intermediate layer (11). Furthermore, a sensor element, in particular for the detection of magnetic fields with regards to the strength and direction thereof, comprising such a layer system (5) is disclosed.
