Abstract (en)
The assembly has four wires e.g. synthetic insulated wires, each including an electrical conductor (1) and a layer (2) of insulated material e.g. polyethylene. The wires are encased by a long shrinkable band (3) that is formed from a water permeable and expandable fleece. Long edges (3a) of the bands extend into spaces formed between the wires as water enters the assembly. An independent claim is also included for a process of manufacturing a stranded assembly for a communication cable.

Ein mehradriger Verseilverband für ein längswasserdichtes Nachrichtenkabel ist von einem längseinlaufenden Band (3) aus einem bei Wasserzutritt quellendem Material umhüllt. Zumindest eine der Längskanten (3a) des Bandes (3) dringt in den zwischen den Adern befindlichen Zwickel des Verseilverbandes ein. <IMAGE>
