[origin: WO2004060724A1] The invention relates to an energy-absorbing case for a motor vehicle bumper beam. The inventive case (2) consists of a housing comprising a hollow section having a first end which is secured to the bumper beam (2) and a second end which is designed to be fixed at the end of a longitudinal member (6) of the motor vehicle. The aforementioned housing is filled with a metal foam having energy absorption properties and a density of between 0.1 g/cm<3> and 0.4 g/cm<3>. The invention is suitable for motor vehicles.
