[origin: EP1580320A2] The present invention relates to the use of water soluble neutral esters of acids of phosphorous of general formula (I) as carriers for improving the absorption of aqueous compositions, preferably aqueous solutions, into porous wettable materials such as paper, wood, masonite, plaster, preferably wood: wherein: R 1 and R 3 , being identical or different, are linear or branched C 1 -C 4 alkyls, preferably C 1 -C 3 ; R 2 is linear or branched C 1 -C 4 alkyl or oxyalkyl, preferably C 1 -C 3 ; R 3 and R 2 , when R 2 is oxyalkyl taken together may form a ring having 5 to 6 atoms, including 2 or 3 carbon atoms.
