Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004060697A1] The invention relates to a writing utensil comprising a one-piece or multi-piece sleeve which receives a writing insert that is retracted within the sleeve in an inoperative position while partially protruding from the sleeve in a writing position. The writing insert is moved between the inoperative position and the writing position by axially displacing a part of the writing utensil, which holds the writing insert, towards the sleeve. The aim of the invention is to create a writing utensil which is provided with a small number of parts while being inexpensive to produce and easy to handle. Said aim is achieved by the fact that the writing insert is positionally fixed relative to the sleeve at least in the writing position by means of a magnetic force that is effective between the elements of a magnetic system. Said magnetic system essentially encompasses at least one magnet and at least one counterpart that is attracted by the magnet/s. The elements thereof are components of the parts embodying the writing utensil, each magnet being a component of one of said parts while each counterpart of a magnet is a component of one of the other parts.
