[origin: EP1582455A1] The device has a deployable unit (9) supported by a body (4) and provided with an end moveable with respect to the body, where the deployable unit is movable vertically and laterally with respect to the body. A camera is disposed at a moveable end of the deployable unit, such that the body is maintained at a distance from a underwater object e.g. sea mine (16), while the camera is closer to the object. An independent claim is also included for a process of observing underwater objects.
