[origin: EP1582625A1] A papermaking assembly has a glazing station with a shoe drum (2) pressing upwards against a counter-pressure drum (4) together forming a wide nip (5). The shoe (2) presses upwards against a rotating mantle (3). The press shoe unit (7) incorporates an adjustment unit that varies the length of the wide nip (5). The press shoe (6) incorporates a pressure chamber (13) defined by a flexible perforated membrane (14). The position is adjusted by a positioning unit (9-11). Also claimed is a glazing process.
