Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004063647A1] The invention relates to a crusher (1) for crushing ice, which comprises a housing (2, 3) to be put over the ice to be crushed and a knife (5) with a serrated cutting edge (52). A upper housing part (2) is detachably linked with a cup-shaped lower housing part (3) that is closed at the bottom. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the height HK of the blade (51), the height of the cup HB and the maximum vertical travel of the knife (5) limited by an actuating mechanism (4) are selected and adapted to each other in such a manner that the cutting edge (52), in its lowest position, does not contact the bottom (31) of the cup. In this way, even in the lowest position of the knife, an air gap HS remains between the downward-pointing tips of the teeth (53) of the cutting edge (52) and the bottom (31) of the cup. The cup (3) is dual-functional and can be used as a lower shaker part together with a shaker top (8) specifically adapted to the cup (3).
