Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004053599A2] The invention relates to a mechanical world timepiece, comprising a transfer mechanism which permits the direct adjustment of the time display, for example a 12-hour hour hand or a 24-hour hour hand using a turning ring with 24 time zones. The timepiece serves for the manual adjustment of the time zone, or for reading off the time in another time zone. Operation could not be simpler. After opening a lever the mechanism in fig 1 is automatically engaged. The toothed ring (6), fixed to the turning ring, drives a vertical drive wheel (5), connected to a coupling wheel (4), by means of a shaft. When the drive (4) is engaged, the above drives one or two gears (8, 9), which move a 12-hour wheel (10) and a 24-hour wheel (11) in a 1h cycle. The turning ring is thus simply turned to give the desired destination at 12 o'clock and the local time can be immediately read off. The turning ring is either now returned to the starting position, or the lever is simply locked. In the second case the time now continues to run according to the set destination. The slider (2) disengages the mechanism by means of a rocker (3) and in the closed state simultaneously fixes the toothed ring (6) and prevents an inadvertent adjustment of the time. The transfer mechanism can also be used for the adjustment or changing of other time displays, such as date, day of the week, month, year, minutes or for other functions such as an alarm.
