[origin: EP1584720A1] The first and second parts to be connected are at the outset on two separate needle beds on alternate needles and one part is then transferred from the first to the second bed. The end stitch is transferred to the first bed and the second bed moved so that the transferred stitch is opposite the following end stitch. The next end stitch is then transferred and a linking stitch is formed to connect the two parts. The connection is formed by moving the second needle bed till the linking stitch is opposite the edge stitch of the first fabric on the first needle bed. This is then transferred to the needle with the linking stitch on the second needle bed, the steps being repeated. More than one edge stitch can be used in the procedure.
