[origin: EP1584749A2] A Bailey bridge device carrying different modular bridge sections (5), is formed as a trailer, which also carries the bridge installation device. Necessary stability is provided by extended supports (6) at the rear of the trailer, together with the trailer coupling (4) and the towing vehicle (1). This may be a wheeled or a track-laying vehicle. The bridge sections are moved out over the rear of the trailer in the conventional way, to form a bridge. The bridge sections are carried on top of each other to reduce the width of the vehicle. The trailer (2) has e.g. a winch, to pick up and carry a non-travelling vehicle after the bridge sections have been unloaded. It also has its own energy supply for hydraulic pressure and volume, e.g. for a bridge installation device. This has an electrical power supply from the towing vehicle or an auxiliary power unit.
