Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2397012A] A display system comprising a number of upright supports (10) spaced-apart horizontally, and a number of mounting bars (30) fitted to the upright supports at vertical intervals, the mounting bars (30) being formed with forwardly-directed channels C,D to receive the rear edges of shelves or the rearwardly-directed brackets of other accessories for carrying items of merchandise. The system comprises also cover strips 50,60,61 (FIG.5) for covering the space between bars 30 and also hide wiring supported on the top face of bar 30. The upright supports 10 are "U" shaped in section and have a series of lugs 12 at the longitudinal edges. The lugs and the recesses they define have a series of notches 15,16 (FIG.2) that are matched to ribs or flanges defined on the mounting bar 30. Also provided is a locking part "L" (FIG.2) that slides into recess 14 (FIG.1) for locking the mounting bar 30 in a position. A second embodiment shows vertical supports 200 (FIG.10) that have flat protruding lugs 202. These lugs support a slightly modified mounting bar (FIG.9) having along its length a channel defined by flanges 233 (FIG.10), in which the lugs 200 are inserted at each end. This embodiment allows shelves or other accessories to be received on opposite side faces of the mounting bar (FIG.9) i.e a gondola type-display.
