[origin: WO03092557A2] The invention concerns an implant comprising: a globally hemispherical metal cup (1) designed to be fixed in the base of the cotyloid cavity of the hip bone; the cup (1) defines and inner cavity (1a) having arrangements for selectively fixed mounting of two types of insert (2) and (3); the first type of insert (2) has an inner spherical cavity (2a) for mounting a mobile hemispherical core (4) having an inner cavity (4a) designed to co-operate in articulation with a femoral head (T); the second type of insert (3) has an inner cavity (3a) designed to co-operate in articulation with a femoral head; the center of the inner cavities of the inserts (2) and (3) and of the mobile core (4) are mutually aligned and aligned or offset relative to the axis of symmetry of the cup.
