Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03006839A2] The invention relates to a multiple clutch system, optionally a double clutch system (10), for arranging in a drive train of a motor vehicle, between a drive unit and a gearbox. The clutch system comprises a first clutch configuration (20) which is associated with a first gearbox input shaft (16), and a second clutch configuration (24) which is associated with a second gearbox input shaft (18). One (18) of the two gearbox input shafts defining a rotating axle of the clutch system extends through the other (16). The clutch configurations respectively have an input side (28 and 32) which is, or can be, directly or indirectly coupled to an output shaft of the drive unit by means of a common input side (40) of the clutch system. The first clutch configuration (20) has a first output side (30) which is, or can be, coupled to the first gearbox input shaft (16) in such a way that they commonly rotate, and the second clutch configuration (24) has a second output side which is, or can be, coupled to the second gearbox input shaft (18) in such a way that they commonly rotate. According to the invention, the first (30) and the second (34) output sides can be directly or indirectly mutually coupled in such a way that they commonly rotate.
