[origin: EP1586730A2] Securing blocking device (1) for an overhead door comprises a securing unit (3) which in the securing state blocks the guide of the overhead door by lying or catching in the guide rail (2). The securing blocking device is connected to a guide cable (8) or guide chain of the overhead door. The securing unit is brought into the functional state by mechanical pre-tensioning of the guide cable/chain. The securing unit is brought into the securing state when the guide cable/chain loses the connection to the securing blocking device and/or is no longer loaded with mechanical pre-tension. The securing unit is an axially displaceable bolt (13) pre-tensioned by an elastic device (9) and arranged perpendicular to the movement direction of the shell of the overhead door. Preferred Features: The securing blocking device is arranged on or in the last section (4) or end rod of the shell of the overhead door.
