[origin: FR2848906A1] The method for making a plastic container (1) consists of thermally treating zones (2) of a preform (3) so that the temperature of (2) exceeds the glass transition temperature, and then injecting a fluid into the preform so that it expands. The expansion is free expansion with the shape achieved by controlling parameter the fluid injection in relation to a reference volume and temperature of (2). The procedure for making a plastic container (1) consists of subjecting at least certain zones (2) of a preform (3) to thermal treatment, e.g. by infrared lamps and reflectors, so that the temperature of the zones exceeds the glass transition temperature of the material, and then injecting a fluid into the preform so that it expands to the required size and shape. The expansion is in the form of a free expansion, i.e. outside a mold, with the final shape achieved by controlling at least one parameter of the fluid injection in relation to a reference volume and taking into account the temperature of the preform zones. The controlled parameter of the injected fluid can be its pressure or flow rate, which can be varied throughout the process to prevent the material bursting, or the temperature of the fluid. The injected fluid can be a gas such as compressed air or a liquid.
