Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004071135A1] The invention relates to a connection device for low-pressure discharge lamps, comprising a controllable rectifier circuit for the production of a high-frequency supply voltage for a discharge lamp (1), a lamp inductance (L1) connected to the rectifier circuit, a lamp parallel capacitor (C1) which is serially connected to the lamp inductance (L1) and which is connected in parallel to the discharge lamp (1), and a pre-heating circuit for supplying a heating current to the electrodes (2, 3) of the discharge lamp (1). In order to minimize electrical losses and to enable universal use of said connection device for various types of discharge lamps, the pre-heating circuit is supplied with current by an auxiliary winding (7) placed on the lamp inductance (L1). The auxiliary winding (7) is connected to the pre-heating circuit by means of a controllable switch or a parallel resonance circuit (9).
