[origin: EP1591250A1] In a process to wash a printing press drum (02) excess fluid is wiped from the rotating drum by a scraper blade (08) that has no contact with the drum outer margin. Printing ink is lifted from the drum outer margin by a secondary blade (09). The blades (08, 09) are raised and lowered by a common drive (14) and actuator (11) between contact presentation and two defined stand-by positions. Also claimed is a commensurate printing press washing assembly that incorporates a rake (03) that makes contact or not with the drum full width. Scraper blade (09) contact at the outer margin takes place at regular intervals and at different positions. The scraper blade angle of presentation is varied with respect to the drum axis of rotation.
