[origin: WO2004071851A1] The invention relates to a supporting structure for a motor vehicle. Said structure is equipped at a front end with a passenger safety cell (1) comprising a front section with a crumple zone (2) and two wheel wells, which are located laterally in the crumple zone (2) and house a respective wheel (3), consisting of a tyre (4) and a wheel rim (5). A wheel support ramp (6), which runs obliquely downwards viewed from the direction of travel, causes the respective wheel (3), which is displaced against the wheel support ramp (6) as a result of a crash-induced deformation of the crumple zone (2), to be guided downwards towards the passenger safety cell (1). Each wheel (3) is provided with an additional wheel impact element (7), which can be deformed by the respective wheel (3) that has been displaced as a result of the crash-induced deformation of the crumple zone (2), in order to absorb additional energy.
