[origin: WO2004073008A1] An electromagnetic power switch comprising a rotary actuator (1) which can rotated between an on-position and an off-position and which acts upon a contact bridge carrier (5) by means of a drive element (3). Rotation into the on-position enables at least one contact bridge (9) to be lowered onto counter contacts (10) by means of said contact bridge carrier (5). If the contact bridge (9) is not welded to the counter contacts, the contact bridge (9) can be raised from the counter contacts (10) via said contact bridge carrier (5) when rotation occurs into the off-position. If the contact bridge (9) is not welded, the drive element (3) is pressed onto the rotary actuator (1). If the contact bridge (9) is welded, the drive element (3) is maintained by the contact bridge carrier (5) in a position which prevents the rotary actuator (1) from rotating into the off-position.
