Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004077587A3] The invention relates to a device for bracing a high-temperature fuel cell stack, an insulating element being provided between the means for bracing the stack and the high-temperature fuel cell stack. The invention is advantageous in that by providing an insulating element, the components of the actual clamping device (for example, clamping frame, tension rods, compression springs and nuts) are exposed to a temperature of use which is regularly below 100 DEG C, and can thus be produced using cost-effective standard materials and components. The invention also enables the stack to be reliably braced with long-term stability. The stack can be heated to operating temperature, for example, by heating spirals introduced inside the insulating element or by heating elements integrated into the stack, or even by previously heated gases.
