[origin: EP1598187A2] The unit has a pair of cylinders formed by a forme cylinder (3) and a transfer cylinder (4) and a third cylinder (8, 9) that forms a printing position with the transfer cylinder. The drives for the forme and transfer cylinders form a permanently coupled combined drive (23) that is driven by a common motor (6) on the transfer cylinder during printing. The drive for the third cylinder can be engaged selectively via a first coupling (12) and can be mechanically coupled to the combined drive.
