[origin: EP1598300A1] In an elevator speed governor, a reset assisting mechanism for assisting in an operation for resetting a speed governor main body is disposed on the speed governor main body. The reset assisting mechanism includes an externally-operated acting lever. An operating member for pressing and operating the acting lever is disposed on an upper portion of a car. When maintenance personnel cannot climb in onto the car, the acting lever can be pressed and operated by the operating member to assist in the operation for resetting the speed governor main body. <IMAGE>
