[origin: WO2004078507A1] The invention relates to a sliding roof system (1) comprising a wind deflector (3) that deflects an airflow, which flows around both sides, over the entire sliding roof opening (2) in order to prevent so-called rumbling. The efficacy of the wind deflector (3) is improved by virtue of the fact that it has a twist or a torsional distortion, i.e. different profile sections (3.1, 3.1') are torsionally distorted at an angle alpha to one another and about a profile axis 3.5. The wind deflector (3) is thus adapted to a curvature of the vehicle roof (9) extending transversal to the longitudinal axis of the motor vehicle and permits a flow even in the lateral area of the sliding roof opening (2). This flow is diverted away over the vehicle roof (9) since, in the lateral area of the sliding roof opening (2), the distance of a conventional wind deflector (3) is greater than in the middle area of the sliding roof opening (2).
