Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004078552A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring the entry zone (4) of vehicles (1), in particular rail vehicles. Digital image signals that are captured by at least one camera (3) and optionally conducted via an analog-digital converter (6) are fed to a data processing device containing a memory. The image signals are processed in a signal analyser (5) that is provided in a data processing device. To carry out a motion analysis, the image signals of individual images, which are broken down into individual pixels, are added together for a specific time period and/or a specific number of images and the average value is calculated. An instant image is subtracted from this resultant, background image. In addition, a shadow analysis can be carried out.
