Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1600417A1] The lift has a lift car and counterweight interconnected by a cable (2) guided over a pulley, and the counterweight compensates for the natural weight of the lift car and a part of the net load. The counterweight (1) is variable in overall weight by at least one additional weight (8) which is detachable from the counterweight in the lift pit. The counterweight has side plates (5,6) which pass by the additional weight in the pit, whereby each side plate has a coupling device (12) to create a releasable connection between the counterweight and additional weight. An independent claim is included for a method for the compensating of a natural weight of a lift car and part of the load by using an additional weight.
