Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004018189A1] The invention relates to a compaction unit (1) for a pelletizing machine (2). The compaction unit (1) comprises a tube (3) with a through passage (5). Raw material can be supplied into a feeding chamber (9), via an opening (8) in the wall of tube (3). The through passage of the tube has a section (10) having a converging cross-section. A piston (12) is lodged to slide in the tube (3) and arranged to be guided through the through passage of the tube (3) in order to compact shavings to fuel pellets. The piston (12) has two parts that are held together by a flexible coupling. The invention also relates to a machine that utilizes the inventive compaction unit and a method for making fuel pellets.
