[origin: DE10311651A1] Acute treatment of pain, spasms, tension headache pain, migraine, asthma, colitis, gastrointestinal spasms, biliary colic, psychovegetative uneasiness states, stress or anxiety conditions and/or depression, using active agent(s) (I), selected from petasins, furanopetasins, eremophilane lactones, Petasites extracts and fractions of the extracts, is new. An independent claim is included for (I)-containing pharmacological compositions for use as above. ACTIVITY : Analgesic; Relaxant; Antimigraine; Antiasthmatic; Antiinflammatory; Tranquilizer; Antidepressant; Antirheumatic; Antiarthritic; Osteopathic; Cytostatic; Antiulcer; Cardiant; Thrombolytic; Antianginal; Cerebroprotective; Vasotropic; Neuroprotective; Nootropic; Hypotensive; Antiallergic; Dermatological; Antipsoriatic; Antitubercular; Gynecological. In tests for alleviation of migraine, acute treatment with 200 mg of Petasites extract (or its fraction), given as a first portion of 150 mg and a second portion of 50 mg within an hour, had a markedly superior therapeutic action to long-term administration of 75 mg per day of the extract (or fraction) over a year.
