Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004074148A2] The invention relates to a device for guiding a moving strip of fibrous material, especially a strip of paper or card. Said device comprises a guiding element (1) which extends essentially over the total width of the strip of fibrous material (5). According to the invention, a cylinder (1) which rotates in the direction (L) in which the web of fibrous material (2) runs is provided as a guiding element in addition to means which exclusively form a gas film (GF) between the surface (0) thereof and the side (5a, 5b) of the web of fibrous material (5) extending over said surface. The web of fibrous material (2) does not substantially enter into contact with the cylinder (1) and a broad extending effect can be obtained on the web of fibrous material (5) such that longitudinal folds in the web of fibrous material (5) can be removed or prevented.
