[origin: WO2004088008A1] Disclosed are a method and a device for producing BCF yarns, in which a plurality of strand-shaped filaments are extruded, cooled, combined in bundles into several yarns, drawn, crimped, and wound onto bobbins. In order to be able to produce yarns having a relatively large total titer at correspondingly high throughput rates, a plurality of the filaments are extruded as an annular bunch of filaments that is cooled by means of a stream of cooling air, which is directed from the inside towards the outside, and is divided in a segment-shaped manner into yarns. In order to be able to do so, the inventive device comprises a nozzle means for creating an annular bunch of filaments, a cooling mechanism that is provided with a blowing means located inside the bunch of filaments for generating a radial stream of cooling air, and a separating unit which is disposed below the cooling mechanism and by means of which the annular bunch of filaments is divided in a segment-shaped manner into yarns.
