Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004090039A2] The invention relates to the production of particle board comprising a vulcanized silicon composition. The aim of the invention is to provide a new raw material consisting of a particle board whose cohesiveness is provided by a cross-linked silicon binder and which can be used as raw material for the production of corks for wine bottles enabling good bottling and good winemaking. The binder comprises: (1) at least one vinyl polyorganosiloxane (POS), (2) at least one hydrogenated POS, (3) one platinum catalyst, (4) at least one POS resin (4.1) which is hydrogenated, which is optionally alcenated and/or associated with at least one other POS resin (4.2) which is alcenylated, (5) and optionally at least one cross-linking inhibitor/ retarder. The particles are made of cork. However, the board can also comprise expandable plastic particles. The invention also relates to methods for the production of said particle board and corks.
