Abstract (en)

Method for gas nitriding a surface of a workpiece in a process chamber comprises varying the reducing pressure of the reducing gas in the chamber during the reducing phase according to a prescribed pressure scheme. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Gas nitriding device for carrying out the above method; and (2) Workpiece having a surface layer produced by the above method.
