Abstract (en)
The carding machine, having a main rotary cylinder (5) with satellite cylinders (3) round it, supported by a frame (9), has the frame made with two opposite vertical posts (10) that support the main cylinder and its satellite cylinders. A second carding cylinder (2) with satellite cylinders (3) is supported by a second pair of posts (10'), and each post has a flat supporting surface on the top for fixing a carding cylinder bearing. The height of each carding cylinder's axis (5b, 2b) above the floor is greater than the cylinder's diameter, and the lateral distance separating the central axis of a carding cylinder and the central axis (10b) of a supporting post is less than a third of the cylinder's diameter. The supporting posts are preferably aligned with the cylinder shafts and they are stabilised By struts (11, 11') and cross-pieces (12, 12').
