[origin: EP1612321A1] The apparatus has an iron and a portable base comprising a space for locating the iron. The portable base has a protecting shutter (4) that occupies an open position in which inner and outer shutter units (41, 42) are retracted with respect to each other and disposed laterally in the space and a closed position in which the shutter units are deployed with respect to each other to cover the iron when the iron is located in the space.
