[origin: GB2400008A] A method for increasing the number of stems on a seed potato tuber comprising the steps of: <SL> <LI>a. storing a seed potato tuber at a temperature in the range of 3-15{C under an atmosphere comprising at least 8 ppm ethylene for at least 8 weeks; and then <LI>b. removing the seed potato tuber from storage under the said ethylene atmosphere for subsequent planting. </SL>
