Abstract (en)
The calender assembly (1), to finish a paper or cardboard web (2), has a wetting station (4) to moisten at least one side of the web before passing through the calender (6) with a number of soft nips (18-24). The nips are formed by a hard roller (11,13,16) and a soft roller (10,12,14,15,17) with an elastic surface (25). The web is dried by an infra red heater (5) or contact or floating heaters after moistening at the wetting station and before passing through the calender.
